Diabetes is a multifactorial chronic disease that deeply affects an individual's quality of life, future plans, and daily routines, requiring long-term care. The management process of the disease necessitates the effective regulation of complex psychosocial issues alongside the control of physical symptoms. Following diagnosis, emotional challenges such as denial, anxiety, anger, future worries, and diabetes distress are frequently observed in individuals. These psychological stressors and hormonal changes directly trigger insulin resistance, leading to the deterioration of glycemic control and metabolic balance, thereby worsening the prognosis of the disease. Studies indicate that high self-care behavior, strong social support, and professional diabetes education significantly enhance individuals' adaptation skills and psychological well-being. Positioned in a key role during this process, nurses must identify individual risk factors and optimize the coping strategies of patients and their families through a holistic, patient-centered care approach. It is of critical importance for nurses to provide education, counseling, periodic psychosocial assessments, and multidisciplinary expert referrals, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when necessary, to ensure success in diabetes management and to improve the patient's quality of life.
