Hydrocephalus, characterized by ventricular enlargement due to cerebrospinal fluid dynamic imbalances, arises from various causes such as infections, tumors, or developmental malformations. Treatment strategies vary from observation to surgical shunting based on the underlying etiology and intracranial pressure. Intracranial arachnoid cysts are typically benign developmental formations that can present with symptoms varying by location and are managed via surgical fenestration when complications occur. Prognosis is heavily dependent on the patient's associated neurological conditions and the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
