Özet
Mikrosefali ve makrosefali, sırasıyla baş çevresinin yaş ve cinsiyete göre ortalamanın 2 standart deviasyon altında veya üstünde olması durumlarını tanımlayan önemli klinik bulgulardır. Bu bozukluklar, genetik faktörlerden metabolik hastalıklara ve çevresel etkilere kadar çok çeşitli etiyolojik nedenlere bağlı olarak gelişebilmektedir. Tanısal süreçte, ayrıntılı bir tıbbi öykü ve fizik muayenenin ardından nörogörüntüleme yöntemleri ve hedefe yönelik genetik veya biyokimyasal testler uygulanarak altta yatan neden belirlenmeye çalışılır. Doğru tanı ve sınıflandırma, hem prognozun belirlenmesi hem de uygun tedavi yaklaşımlarının planlanması açısından kritiktir.
Microcephaly and macrocephaly are clinical findings defined by head circumference measurements falling more than two standard deviations below or above the mean for age and sex, respectively. These conditions can arise from a wide range of etiologies, spanning genetic abnormalities, metabolic disorders, and environmental factors. Diagnostic evaluation typically begins with a comprehensive medical history and physical examination, followed by neuroimaging and targeted genetic or biochemical testing to identify the underlying cause. Accurate diagnosis and classification are essential for determining prognosis and guiding appropriate therapeutic management.
