Amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG) is a filtered and compressed monitoring method widely utilized in neonatal intensive care units to assess prognosis in cases of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, manage therapeutic hypothermia, and detect seizures. Its primary clinical advantages include ease of application and the capability for long-term continuous recording compared to conventional EEG. However, because aEEG evaluation can be subjective and may miss brief seizures, it should ideally be used in conjunction with conventional EEG to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
