Biyogüvenlik, Kontrol ve Mücadele Stratejileri ve Aşılar
Özet
Tek tırnaklı hayvanlarda viral enfeksiyonların yönetimi; biyogüvenlik, erken tanı, karantina, sürveyans ve aşılama uygulamalarını kapsayan entegre ve dinamik bir yaklaşım gerektirir. Bu süreçte biyogüvenlik stratejileri, patojenlerin işletmeye girişini önlemeyi amaçlayan ‘biyodışlama’ ile enfeksiyonun işletme içinde yayılımını sınırlandıran ‘biyosınırlama’ uygulamalarına dayanır. Enfeksiyon zincirinin kırılmasında PCR gibi moleküler tanı yöntemleriyle desteklenen erken teşhis ve etkin sürveyans sistemleri kritik öneme sahiptir. Özellikle at endüstrisinde yoğun hayvan hareketleri, latent enfeksiyonların varlığı ve Batı Nil virusu (WNV) ile Afrika at vebası (AHS) gibi vektör kaynaklı hastalıklar, kontrol programlarını daha karmaşık hale getirmektedir. Bu nedenle çevresel yönetim uygulamaları ve etkili vektör kontrol stratejileri hastalık yönetiminin temel bileşenleri arasında yer alır. Aşılama ise enfeksiyonların görülme sıklığını ve klinik şiddetini azaltmada önemli rol oynasa da tek başına yeterli değildir; biyogüvenlik ve sürveyans önlemleriyle birlikte planlanan bir ‘son savunma hattı’ olarak değerlendirilmelidir. Ayrıca zoonotik potansiyele sahip enfeksiyonların kontrolünde, insan, hayvan ve çevre sağlığını birlikte ele alan ‘Tek Sağlık-One Health’ yaklaşımı kapsamında disiplinlerarası iş birliği büyük önem taşımaktadır. Türkiye’de tek tırnaklı hayvanlarda viral hastalıkların kontrolü, Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı tarafından yayımlanan mevzuat ve genelgeler doğrultusunda yürütülmekte; Afrika at vebası gibi ihbarı mecburi hastalıklar düzenli olarak izlenirken, özellikle kayıtlı at popülasyonlarında equine influenza ve equine herpesvirus enfeksiyonlarına karşı rutin aşılama programları uygulanmaktadır.
Management of viral infections in equids requires an integrated and dynamic approach encompassing biosafety, early diagnosis, quarantine, surveillance, and vaccination practices. In this context, biosafety strategies are based on ‘bioexclusion,’ which aims to prevent the introduction of pathogens into the facility, and ‘biocontainment,’ which limits the spread of infection within the establishment. Early diagnosis supported by molecular diagnostic methods such as PCR, together with effective surveillance systems, plays a critical role in breaking the chain of infection. Particularly in the equine industry, intensive animal movement, the presence of latent infections, and vector-borne diseases such as West Nile virus (WNV) and African horse sickness (AHS) complicate disease control programs. Therefore, environmental management practices and effective vector control strategies constitute essential components of disease management. Although vaccination plays an important role in reducing the incidence and clinical severity of infections, it is not sufficient on its own and should be considered a ‘last line of defense’ implemented alongside biosecurity and surveillance measures. Furthermore, in the control of infections with zoonotic potential, interdisciplinary collaboration within the framework of the ‘One Health’ approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health, is of great importance. In Türkiye, the control of viral diseases in equids is carried out in accordance with regulations and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. While notifiable diseases such as African horse sickness are regularly monitored, routine vaccination programs against equine influenza and equine herpesvirus infections are implemented, particularly in registered horse populations.
