Saygun ve Gilgameş: Destan'dan Opera'ya Yolculuk

Bu kitap, Ahmed Adnan Saygun'un Gilgameş operası üzerine bir inceleme sunmaktadır. Saygun, yirminci yüzyılın en önemli bestecilerinden biri olarak kabul edilmektedir ve yapıtlarında Doğu'nun ezgiselliği ile Batı'nın çoksesliliğini harmanlamaktadır. Kitap, Saygun'un düşünsel arka planını ve Yunus Emre Oratoryosu ile Kerem gibi diğer eserlerinde vurgulanan kavramları ele almaktadır. Gilgameş'in temel meselesi olan ölüm, burada bir son değil, hakikate ulaşma yolunda bir gereklilik ve başlangıç olarak ele alınmaktadır. Kitap, Gilgameş'in sahnelenmemiş olmasının etkisiyle, metinsel ve müzikal incelemeler yaparak Saygun'un eserine yeni bir perspektif sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma, Saygun'un öğrencisi ve besteci olarak büyük birikime sahip olan Prof. Gülper Refiğ'in desteğiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir.

This book presents an analysis of Ahmed Adnan Saygun's opera Gilgamesh. Saygun is considered one of the most important composers of the twentieth century, blending the melodic qualities of the East with the polyphony of the West in his works. The book explores Saygun's intellectual background and examines the concepts emphasized in his other works such as the Yunus Emre Oratorio and Kerem. The book approaches death, the central issue in Gilgamesh, not as an end but as a necessity and a beginning towards reaching truth. Due to Gilgamesh not being staged, the book aims to provide a new perspective on Saygun's work through textual and musical analysis. This study was conducted with the support of Prof. Gülper Refiğ, a student and composer with extensive knowledge in Saygun's work.
