Synopsis

\"A Study on the Use of Films in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language: Classroom Applications\" is a book that has been prepared with the aim of enhancing the communication skills and intercultural competence of Turkish language learners. This book has been developed by Turkish language teachers to improve students' listening and speaking comprehension skills in multimedia classrooms. Films are commonly used in foreign language teaching. However, there is limited research on the use of films in Turkish language teaching. This book provides tips for successful language learning and offers an understanding of how films can be effectively used in classroom applications. The content of this book is designed to meet different learning needs. It is developed with pre-watching activities such as prediction and vocabulary building. Activities conducted during the film viewing are designed to help students follow the events in the film. These include pausing and playing, predicting, correcting sentences, completing missing words, repeating expressions, and finding idiomatic/formulaic expressions, as well as identifying false and true statements and determining who said certain sentences. Post-watching activities include comprehension questions, role plays, multiple-choice questions, sentence rewriting, writing, and group discussion activities. In this way, communication skills and intercultural competence can be developed with this book. The aim of the book is to familiarize Turkish language learners with authentic environments where daily language is used, and to make them acquainted with real-life situations. The book includes 8 films and 15 activities for each film, targeting Turkish language learners at the B1-B2 level.
