Bu kitap, balıklarda yaş tayini konusunda bilimsel verilere dayalı bir kaynak olarak hazırlanmıştır. Balık stoklarının sürdürülebilir bir şekilde yönetilebilmesi için doğru yaş tayinlerinin yapılması büyük önem taşımaktadır. Yaş tayinleri, balıkların büyüklüğü, eşeysel olgunluk, göç hareketleri ve stoka katılım gibi konularda temel bilgi kaynağı olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu kitap, Türkçe kaynak eksikliğini gidermek ve meslektaşlara yardımcı olmak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Balıkçılıkla ilgili çalışmaların yapıldığı 1960'lı yıllardan bu yana Türkçe bir kaynak bulunmamaktadır. Bu kitap, bu açığı kapatmayı hedeflemektedir. Kitabın yazarı Prof. Dr. Dursun Avşar, meslektaşlarına ve okuyuculara kitabın yararlı olmasını ummaktadır.
This book has been prepared as a source based on scientific data for age determination in fish. Accurate age determination is of great importance for the sustainable management of fish stocks. Age determination is used as a fundamental source of information on fish size, sexual maturity, migration patterns, and stock participation. This book has been prepared to fill the gap in Turkish resources and to assist colleagues in their work. Since the 1960s, when studies on fisheries began, there has been no Turkish resource available. This book aims to fill this gap. The author of the book, Prof. Dr. Dursun Avşar, hopes that the book will be useful to colleagues and readers.
