Özet

Oyun, okul öncesi dönemde çocukların yaşadıkları dünyayı keşfetmelerine, deneyimlerini anlamlandırmalarına ve bilgiyi aktif biçimde yapılandırmalarına olanak sağlayan bir öğrenme aracıdır. Oyun temelli öğrenme ise çocukların aktif katılımına, keşfetmesine, problem çözmesine ve yaşantıya dayalı öğrenmesine dayanan bir yaklaşımdır. Bu bölümde oyun ile öğrenme arasındaki ilişki, erken çocukluk eğitimi bağlamında kuramsal ve uygulamalı yönleriyle ele alınmıştır. Serbest oyun, yapılandırılmış oyun, dramatik oyun, fiziksel hareket oyunları ve dijital oyunların öğrenme süreçlerine ve çocukların gelişim alanlarına katkıları vurgulanmıştır. Ayrıca oyun temelli öğrenme materyalleri, öğrenme merkezleri ve fiziksel çevrenin düzenlenmesinin oyun temelli öğrenme üzerindeki rolüne değinilmiştir. Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli ve 2024 Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programı kapsamında oyunun pedagojik işlevi değerlendirilmiş; oyun temelli yaklaşımın ulusal programlardaki yeri açıklanmıştır. Bölümde ayrıca oyun temelli dil ve erken okuryazarlık, matematik, fen, müzik-hareket, sanat ve yaratıcılık deneyimlerinin çocukların bilişsel, dil, sosyal-duygusal, fiziksel ve yaratıcı gelişimleri açısından sunduğu öğrenme fırsatları incelenmiştir. Son olarak öğretmenin oyun sürecindeki rolü açıklanmıştır. Genel olarak oyun temelli öğrenmenin çocukların motivasyonunu ve öğrenme sürecine aktif katılımını destekleyen, gelişim alanlarını bütüncül biçimde güçlendiren ve öğrenmeyi doğal deneyimlerle bütünleştiren etkili bir pedagojik yaklaşım olduğu vurgulanmaktadır.

Play is a learning tool that enables children to explore the world around them, make sense of their experiences, and actively construct knowledge during the preschool period. Play-based learning, on the other hand, is an approach based on children’s active participation, exploration, problem-solving, and experiential learning. This chapter addresses the relationship between play and learning from theoretical and practical perspectives within the context of early childhood education. The contributions of free play, structured play, dramatic play, physical movement games, and digital games to learning processes and children’s developmental domains are emphasized. In addition, the role of play-based learning materials, learning centers, and the organization of the physical environment in play-based learning is discussed. The pedagogical function of play is evaluated within the framework of the Türkiye Century Education Model and the 2024 Preschool Education Program, and the place of the play-based approach in national curricula is explained. The chapter also examines the learning opportunities provided by play-based language and early literacy, mathematics, science, music-movement, art, and creativity experiences in terms of children’s cognitive, language, social-emotional, physical, and creative development. Finally, the role of the teacher in the play process is explained. Overall, play-based learning is emphasized as an effective pedagogical approach that supports children’s motivation and active participation in the learning process, holistically strengthens developmental domains, and integrates learning with natural experiences.
