Regional orthopedic rehabilitation is a comprehensive approach to the assessment and management of musculoskeletal disorders that considers the movement system as a biomechanical and functional whole rather than focusing solely on the pathological region. This chapter addresses the etiology, clinical features, assessment methods, and current rehabilitation approaches for common orthopedic conditions affecting the spine, upper extremities, and lower extremities. Spinal rehabilitation covers cervical, thoracic, and lumbar disorders, scoliosis, and rehabilitation following spinal surgery, while upper- and lower-extremity rehabilitation focuses on assessment and treatment principles for traumatic and orthopedic conditions. The primary goals of rehabilitation include reducing pain, maintaining and improving joint mobility, enhancing muscle strength and neuromuscular control, restoring functional capacity, and preventing recurrent injuries. Conservative interventions, including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, physical modalities, patient education, and functional retraining, are discussed within an evidence-based framework. By emphasizing individualized, progressive, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs, this chapter provides a holistic and evidence-based clinical perspective for the effective management of orthopedic conditions and the restoration of functional independence and quality of life.
