The urogenital system (Systema Urogenitalis) consists of the excretory and reproductive systems, which are studied together due to their anatomical and embryological similarities, despite having completely different primary physiological functions. Apart from their terminal external pathways, these two systems have no fundamental anatomical or physiological connection, making it appropriate to examine them independently as excretory organs (organa uropoetica) and reproductive organs (organa genitalia). The excretory system comprises the kidneys, which filter metabolic waste from the blood to maintain osmotic pressure and homeostasis, the ureters that transport urine, the urinary bladder, and the urethra. The anatomical shape and color of the kidneys exhibit significant morphological differences among domestic mammal species. The reproductive system shows distinct morphological and functional differences between males and females. The male reproductive system consists of the testes that produce spermatozoa, the epididymis for storage and maturation, the ductus deferens for transport, accessory glands that facilitate sperm transport and nourishment, and the penis, which serves as the copulatory organ and can be cavernous or fibroelastic depending on the species. In the female reproductive system, the ovaries produce the egg cell (ovum), and fertilization primarily occurs in the oviduct (tuba uterina). The uterus, which protects and nourishes the developing embryo, has a bicornuate structure across all domestic mammals. Furthermore, the vagina and vestibulum vaginae, which serve as both the copulatory and birth canals, terminate at the vulva, where the reproductive tract opens to the outside of the body.
