Salmonella

Özet

Salmonellalar, hareketli gram-negatif basillerdir. Çeşitli memeli konakçıları enfekte veya kolonize ederler. Salmonella en yaygın olarak kümes hayvanlarından, yumurtalardan ve süt ürünlerinden gıda kaynaklı alınması ile bulaşır. Diğer ilişkiler arasında taze ürünler, etler ve diğer yiyeceklerin yanı sıra evcil hayvanlar (sürüngenler dahil) ve diğer hayvanlarla temas yer alır. Salmonella insanlarda; gastroenterit, enterik ateş (ateş ve karın semptomlarıyla birlikte sistemik hastalık), bakteriyemi ve endovasküler enfeksiyon, osteomiyelit veya apse gibi fokal metastatik enfeksiyonlar, asemptomatik kronik taşıyıcılık durumu gibi bir dizi klinik enfeksiyona neden olur. Enterik ateş antibiyotiklerle tedavi edilirken nontifoidal Salmonella gastroenteriti kendi kendini sınırlar.
