Özet

Sosyal hizmet insan haklarını ve sosyal adalet ilkelerini mesleki değerler sistemine işlemiş uygulamalı bir disiplin ve meslektir. Mesleki değerler sosyal hizmet uzmanlarının etik anlamda sahip olmaları gereken değerlerdir ve bu değerler mesleki bilgiyi, beceriyi, sosyal hizmet yöntem ve tekniklerini şekillendirmektedir. 
Sosyal hizmet disiplinine ve mesleğine özgü temel değerler hizmet, sosyal adalet, bireyin onuru ve değeri, insan ilişkilerinin önemi, dürüstlük ve yeterliliği içermektedir. Bu bölümde sosyal hizmetin özünde yer alan temel değerlere değinilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öncelikli olarak sosyal hizmet değerlerinin tarihsel süreçteki devinimine, değer temeline, sosyal hizmetin özünde yer alan ve uygulamayı şekillendiren temel değerlere değinilmiştir.
